Give A Hospice Patient The Gift Of Their Last Wish For Only $25 A Month

If someone asked you today what your final wish would be, what would you say?

For our Abbie Hunt Bryce Home resident, Zachary, it was simple.

“I want to go fishing,” he said.

Zachary was only 28 at the time and homeless at the time he was taken to the hospital to receive his terminal diagnosis.

Hospice made sense for Zach as it prioritizes comfort and care and allowed him to spend his final days at The Abbie Hunt Bryce Home.

“I just want to people to know that life is short and to use the time they have left.”

While at The Abbie Hunt Bryce Home, Zachary said, "My body is declining but my spirit healed."

That is what our nonprofit Morning Light's Abbie Hunt Bryce home is all about. We provide free housing and round-the-clock care to the terminally-ill in true need thanks to community support. We are end of life care for the community, by the community.

You can join us in this mission by giving just $25/month or $300 in full! Just $300 funds a resident's Last Wish.

In October 2022, on the weekend of his birthday, Zachary, his friend Sam, our Executive Director, Madison Wood-Gonzalez, and Morning Light donors Dennis and Beth went fishing on a boat down the White River. There were snacks, autumnal colors, and a sense of peace. The guests sang Zachary “Happy Birthday,” and after the ride he thanked his creator for bringing people in his life that would finally take care of him.

This was the very first "Last Wish" granted at The Abbie Hunt Bryce Home. We have granted many since through our Making Memories Campaign, thanks to your generosity.

Residents of our Home have pet rhinos at the zoo, had ponies visit their bedroom at The Abbie Hunt Bryce Home, hosted final family gatherings at Abbie, invited Elvis impersonators, held motorcycle and classic car shows, had private bluegrass concerts, received gifts of all-you-can eat chocolate and candy, and more!

When someone comes to the Abbie Hunt Bryce Home, we make it clear that they aren’t coming to die, but to live. We see our Home and the community that volunteers and supports it as a chance to give someone some of the best of their days for the rest of their days.

Zachary’s Last Wish marked our first of many.

In fact, Morning Light invites you to join our The Making Memories Campaign.

Here’s how it works:

For just $25/month you can fund a hospice resident’s last wish.

Beyond funding the wish, we will help pair donors who are interested in being part of the wish with our hospice residents in making that wish a reality.

Morning Light will document and share last wishes with all of our supporters to showcase what is possible even while someone is on hospice.

If just 100 donors commit to giving $25/month, we would raise $30,000 over the course of the year! It truly adds up and would support Morning Light's Abbie Hunt Bryce Home operations and grants a Last Wish to each one of our residents at The Abbie Hunt Bryce Home.

This monthly camping will support the operations, staffing, and materials needed to make all of our residents last wishes come true.

Thank you for helping our wish of granting wishes come true.
