The Abbie Hunt Bryce Home: A place to stay. A meal to eat. A hand to hold.

About the Home

"My body declined here, but my spirit healed." - Abbie Hunt Bryce Home Resident on Hospice

The Abbie Hunt Bryce Home first opened its doors in July 2004 after its founders recognized the need to create a home that provided comfort and dignity to terminal individuals without anywhere else to go or anyone else to care for them. The Home was built to allow its residents to live out the last chapter of their lives in love and with respect.

The Abbie Hunt Bryce Home is not a nursing home, a hospice center, or a medical facility. Rather, it is truly a home – a home for those who have no other place to call their own.

Who We Serve

Since its inception in 2004, the Home has served nearly 900 residents. These individuals are low-income or unhoused and would have no other home to go to during their last days or months of life. The Home is free of charge and is available to those with a terminally ill diagnosis.

What We Do

The Abbie Hunt Bryce Home is a fully functioning home which includes:

  • Private single rooms with semi-private baths, kitchen facilities, living rooms and family room space
  • Trained staff and volunteers who provide emotional, physical, and spiritual support to each resident, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • Medical assistance from community Hospice teams
  • Full collaboration with other providers of homeless services in the community
  • Leadership by a committed group of community volunteers, dedicated to providing the means necessary to carry out the mission

How You Can Help

The Abbie Hunt Bryce Home was built through generous private contributions of individuals, foundations and corporations. No federal government dollars are used or ever have been used for the building or for the program. This means that the Home relies solely on generous contributors like yourself. Please consider donating today.

In addition to monetary donations, the Home is always looking for committed volunteers to assist in the day-to-day operations of the Home. Please contact rekwerike@morninglightinc.org if you are interested in learning more about volunteer opportunities.
